Mini Europe / Bruparck Heysel

Mini Europe logoMini-Europe is a park located in Bruparck foot of the Atomium in Brussels built on 24,000 m2. The park features reproductions of the most famous monuments of the European Union 1/25 scale. Approximately 80 cities and 350 houses are exposed.
The park is renowned for the quality of its models, some of which cost up to 350,000 euros (Grand-Place of Brussels). The park contains many animations (train, mills, eruption of Mount Vesuvius, Airbus, wire guided trucks … A guide gives details on all the monuments. Finally run an interactive exhibition “Spirit of Europe” presents the European Union in the form of ‘interactivity and games.

Monuments have been selected for their architectural or their European symbol. After this initial selection, you must find the plans and photos. This phase has cost over 200,000 euros for research. Most monuments are constructed by molding. The pieces are constructed from various materials and then copied by molding silicone. The final copy is made of epoxy resin (early) and polyester (currently). Three buildings were made of stone (eg the Tower of Pisa, marble). A new technique milling machine was used for two models.
Then comes the paint. Finally, the monument is installed on site with decorations and light. Saint Jacques de Compostela asked more than 24 000 hours.
Many monuments were financed by the countries or regions in Europe.
